Unrealized profit and loss (PnL) from current open trading positions

IM Utilization reflects your initial margin deposits across all currently open positions. Should this reach 100% you will not be able to open any new positions.

For further details about the IM and MM calculations, please see our margin and collateral guide.

The information bar provides you all relevant information related to the trading market's price and volume.

This is the price which the collection's asset is trading at on Butter.xyz.
Index Price:
This is an average price the collection is trading at on spot markets like Opensea or Blur. The index price incorporates factors like the index price, funding rates and recent trade prices to provide a more accurate representation of the asset's market value and to reduce the impact of market manipulations. B) Executing a trade
To make a trade follow the below steps:
Collection Select
Click on the collection title to open all collections available to trade and select the specific collection you'd like to trade.
Remember to only select from the Perpetual category.
Trade Position
i. Long or Short
Determine your trade position by selecting either Long or Short.
Long position indicates you forecast the collections price to rise. Short position indicates you forecast the collections price to decrease.
ii. Position Size
Input the amount of ETH you would like deployed to your position. This Ethereum amount will additionally be reflected as a position size in the contract represented as the form below the ETH amount.
iii. Leverage
Butter.xyz operates using cross margin leverage, allowing you to use your entire account balance to back your open positions. Using leverage amplifies your potential profits by allowing you to control larger positions with a smaller capital deposit.
For example: if you wish to open a position with notional amount of 10 ETH and use a leverage of 10x, the amount of required collateral will be 1 ETH.
Your current and projected leverage are displayed according to your position size and account value.
The leverage slider aids in visually representing your available leverage for a position in the selected market.
Note: Some markets may have lower leverage limits or maximum position sizes than others. Consequently this will affect the maximum leverage you can take. For example, the MACHI - PERP is limited to 3x leverage and cannot be increased further. For more information on cross margin leverage, please check: Cross-margin leverage
iv. Slippage
Input your preferred slippage tolerance percentage.
Slippage tolerance refers to the difference between the expected price of a trade and the actual executed price, due to market volatility and liquidity variables. By setting a slippage tolerance, you specify the maximum price difference you are willing to accept for the transaction to go through. If the slippage exceeds this set tolerance, the transaction will not be executed.
Adding to the position
To increase your position size return to the specified collection and follow the steps above with the additional amount of Eth you would like added. Keep in mind if the collection price has changed, your entry price will reflect this accordingly.
Confirm your position
Once you are ready to open your position, press the "Trade" button.
Closing your position
Upon clicking close, you will be able to close your current position in part or in full, incurring the profit or loss.
This can be adjusted through either of the following options;
Amount
Slider
Percent
If you wish to close your position in full, either input the full position size amount, adjust the slider to 100%, or input 100% in the respective field.
Alternatively if you wish to close only part of your position, leaving a remainder still open, adjust the fields accordingly.
